The angles between planets show how two energies connect.
The angles planets form on the chart are called aspects. At certain angles, their energies influence each other. In report text, aspects are grouped as harmonious aspects (sextile, trine) and challenging aspects (square, opposition and others), with conjunctions and minor aspects named on their own. When one specific aspect matters, it is named with its degree, such as square (90°).
Conjunction
0°
When two planets share the same position (0°). Their energies merge and act with extra force. Two roles overlap in one place like one voice.
Sextile
60°
A state where two planets are 60 degrees apart. Represents energy of opportunity and cooperation. Two roles can reach out and support each other easily.
Square
90°
Two planets 90° apart. Shows tension and challenge—and also a growth opening. Two roles present different needs, making adjustment visible.
Trine
120°
Two planets 120° apart. Shows harmonious, supportive energy flow. Two roles exchange strength naturally and keep flow moving.
Opposition
180°
A state where two planets are 180 degrees apart. Means opposition and balance, and is energy that requires integration. Two roles face each other and reveal a balance neither holds alone.
Example
Example: Sun-Moon Conjunction (0°)
Outer self (Sun) and inner self (Moon) share a sign, so they align. Outside and inside match, giving a frank, sincere tone.
Example: Venus-Mars Square (90°)
There is tension between love (Venus) and desires (Mars). You are passionate but may experience conflicts in love, and finding balance between what you want and how you love is a challenge.
