The North and South Nodes: an axis of growth traced by the Moon's orbit.
The crossing of the Moon’s path and the ecliptic. South Node shows past patterns and innate gifts; North Node shows this-life direction and growth axis.
The nodes are not planets. They are the two points where the Moon's orbit crosses the ecliptic. The two points are always exactly opposite each other (180°), so they are read together as one axis.
North Node
Shows this-life purpose and growth direction. Challenging, yet it marks the path growth asks you to take.
South Node
Shows past patterns and innate gifts. Comfortable habits that growth asks you to loosen.
How the nodes move
The nodes move in the opposite direction to most planets and go around the zodiac about every 18.6 years. They stay in one sign for about a year and a half, so people born around the same time share the same node signs. The houses they fall in depend on your birth time.
How to read them
The South Node's sign and house show what already feels familiar, and the North Node shows the direction to grow into. This doesn't mean leaving the South Node behind. It is read as using familiar strengths as a base while stepping toward the North Node.
